Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart is coming to PS5

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is coming to PS5 in the coming months and promises to take advantage of the possibilities of the console. Marcus Smith, creative director of the title developed by Insomniac Games, has explained in a new interview to Gamesradar the type of improvements that can be expected thanks to the graphic jump, 3D audio and fast loads of the SSD, elements that have changed the way of work with respect to past generations.

"It has been - the development - an incredible learning process to get rid of the outdated 'best practices' that have been used so far because of limitations in load times. While often the new hardware feels just like an upgrade graphically, working on PS5 has been a paradigm shift in the way we do things, from almost instantaneous level loading to 3D audio design, and yes, a huge visual leap. It's exciting to think that we're still so early in the cycle and everyone is scratching the surface of what can be done. "

Rift Apart is one of the best demonstrations of the advantages that the SSD offers in the design of the game thanks to the portals between different worlds, which will move the protagonists from one stage to another in a matter of seconds.

Using the DualSense

"Since Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart was built from the ground up for PS5, we have the widest variety of techniques and the highest fidelity we've ever had to develop weapons," says director Mike Daly. Each weapon uses adaptive triggers in a way, the visuals have been improved, and the haptic response gives each hit a unique physical feel.

"Weapons have always been at the forefront of the Ratchet experience, and the DualSense gives us powerful tools to enhance the personality of weapons even further. We combine haptic feedback with loudspeaker so that the physical aspect of firing each weapon delivers a different feel in texture and credibility. The expressiveness of the command has a great value, all the weapons are different from each other, it would not be so convincing if they all had the same basic vibration "
